Guidance for Refunds Under CA SB 114
Candidates who registered for, but no longer need to take CalTPA or edTPA under California Senate Bill 114 (Chap. 48, Stats 2023) may be eligible for a full refund of their assessment fee (also see PSA 23-05 ). Information about refund eligibility and the refund process is provided below.
CalTPA
Candidates registered for CalTPA, who have not yet submitted a cycle for scoring and are within one year of their CalTPA registration date, are eligible for a full refund by withdrawing their registration. Upon withdrawing their registration, a refund will be initiated by Pearson.
edTPA
Candidates registered for edTPA, who have not yet submitted their assessment for scoring and are within 18 months of their edTPA registration date, are eligible for a full refund by withdrawing their registration AND contacting the Customer Contact Center to provide additional verification. On the Customer Contact Center webpage , click the box "For Candidate Support" for multiple options to reach the Customer Contact Center (i.e., email, phone, live chat, and mail).
Registration Withdrawal
Candidates may withdraw from CalTPA by logging in to their account on the California Educator Credentialing Assessments website or from edTPA by logging in to their account on the edTPA website , selecting Current Registrations, then Withdraw, and following the instructions provided. A candidate’s request to withdraw their registration must be made within one year of their CalTPA registration date or 18 months of their edTPA registration date.
Refunds
In most cases, a refund will be issued by Evaluation Systems to the original credit card account within one week of the withdrawal request; however, some requests may take additional time to resolve. Candidates who do not withdraw before the one-year CalTPA or 18-month edTPA window has expired, will not receive a refund or credit of any kind. If a voucher was applied toward registration fees, the amount of the voucher will not be refunded.
Candidates can contact the Customer Contact Center for CalTPA and edTPA with any questions regarding the status of their refund.
