TEST DATES
RICA Written Examination Schedule
The first test date available for the RICA Written Examination as a computer-based test is August 6, 2011.
Registration. Registration for computer-based testing is available online only; select "Register Now." There are no registration deadlines; however, you should plan to register as early as possible before your desired test date, as seating is limited. You may view seat availability at www.pearsonvue.com/rica/. Please note seat availability information is subject to change. Due to the amount of time required to process a registration, you may not be able to schedule a test appointment if you register within three calendar days of the day on which you plan to test.
Note that you may not take the RICA Written Examination more than once in any 45-calendar-day period.
Score reporting. Unofficial test results will be available on the RICA Web site within four weeks of your test date. See "Score Reporting" on the RICA Web site for score report dates for computer-based testing.
Video Performance Assessment
Overview. Candidates may register at any time through June 8, 2012, for the RICA Video Performance Assessment 2011–2012 program year. However, because preparing video packets for submission can be time intensive, you are encouraged to register as early as possible to allow yourself ample time to prepare your three video packets for submission. Once registered, candidates may submit their completed materials until the final submission deadline of the program year for which they are registered. Completed Video Performance Assessment materials are scored three times per program year.
Your registration will be valid until the final submission deadline of the 2011–2012 program year (June 22, 2012). For your score report to be mailed on a scheduled score report date, you must meet the following two requirements:
- You must be registered for the RICA Video Performance Assessment.
- Your three completed video packets and correct payment must be received by the submission deadline corresponding to that score report date.
Registration. RICA Video Performance Assessment registrations are accepted by U.S. mail only. You may order a scannable registration form by selecting "Print Bulletin and Forms (PDF)" on the RICA Web site. (The form and a preprinted envelope will be mailed to you.)
Within one week of receipt of your properly completed registration materials, a RICA Video Performance Assessment materials packet will be mailed to you. This packet will include a RICA Video Performance Assessment Procedures Manual and supplementary forms. As an option, you may choose to have your materials packet mailed to you by overnight mail within two business days of receipt of your registration materials. There is an additional fee for this express delivery service. This service is not available if the address you provide on the registration form is a post office box. If you choose the express delivery option and provide a mailing address that is a post office box, your materials packet will be sent by standard mail and the express delivery fee will not be returned.
If you register for the RICA Video Performance Assessment during the 2011–2012 program year but do not submit your video packets to be scored by the final submission deadline of the program year (June 22, 2012), you will no longer be registered for the Video Performance Assessment and you will receive no refund or credit of any kind. Registrations for the Video Performance Assessment may not be withdrawn; once you are registered, you will not receive a refund or credit of any kind, even if you do not submit your video packets.
Preparing materials. The RICA Video Performance Assessment Procedures Manual includes specific instructions and requirements for completing the RICA Video Performance Assessment. Read the procedures manual carefully and adhere strictly to the procedures and policies for preparing your video packets for submission. Submitted materials that do not conform to the procedures and policies described in the procedures manual will be considered unscorable, and you will not be issued a refund or credit of any kind.
Because the specific requirements for preparing video packets vary by program year, video packets prepared during one program year will not satisfy the requirements for the next program year. When you register for the RICA Video Performance Assessment, you are required to prepare video packets according to the instructions in the RICA Video Performance Assessment Procedures Manual for that program year.
Submitting materials. Once you have completed your three video packets, you should submit them for scoring by following the mailing procedures detailed in the RICA Video Performance Assessment Procedures Manual. Include the balance of the test fee, and mail your materials so that they are received by the submission deadline corresponding to your desired score report date. All required materials must be submitted together at one time; a partial submission will be returned to you unprocessed.
The submission deadlines and score report dates for the 2011–2012 program year are shown in the table below.
| Submission Deadline | Score Report Date |
|---|---|
| November 18, 2011 | December 9, 2011 |
| March 23, 2012 | April 13, 2012 |
| June 22, 2012 | July 13, 2012 |
After your submission is received, you will be sent a notice acknowledging receipt of your materials and confirming your score report date. If you have not received an acknowledgment of receipt of your materials within three weeks of submitting them, you should call (888) 793-7999 or (916) 928-4004.
If you wish to have your RICA Video Performance Assessment score report sent to an address different from the address that you provided when you registered, you must notify Evaluation Systems of your address change in writing by the submission deadline that corresponds to the receipt of your video packets. Include your full name, the last five digits of your social security number, and change of address in your letter, sign and date it, and send it to Evaluation Systems at the address indicated in "Contact Information."
